Aahh Yes, A Lesson on the Tender Mercies of Tolerance From the Left

No sooner had I finished the polishing touches on the post I just wrote pointing out the violence of the Left and the hypocrisy of the same do I sit down with a cold beer and work on clearing out the DVR.

And I get to the Daily Show.  And 12 saved episodes. And yeah, it’s time to clean out some Daily show.

So I crack the beer and settle in for some good times with Jon Stewart.

Out of the Mouths of Babes

It was shortly after the Tucson shootings that the talk around the proverbial water cooler began to center around the tone of our political discourse.  Some felt that the aggressiveness of the conversation led people, admittedly unbalanced people, to veer over the fine line they were walking and snap.

I tried to shape that conversation in such a manner to ensure what we were talking about was political tone on BOTH sides of the great divide.  I wanted to make the point that unless the conversation of “tamping it down” was done in a bi-partisan manner, the effect would be that of a lecture.

I failed in my attempt.

Lest We Become They

As the world watches what’s going on in Egypt, we need to keep this in mind.

That we believe all men are free and are governed at their will.  A government that restricts that Liberty must be checked, and if not, removed.

If we allow the Liberty of those people living in Egypt too be taken from them because we fear the alternative we will have become Democrats!

Liberty.  by law!

Presidential Election: 2012

Intrade odds that a Democrat [Obama] wins the election in 2012:

ID Please

I posted earlier about an effort to require ID to purchase prescription drugs.  Apparently the abuse of prescription drugs is enough of a concern for liberal lawmakers to require proof of identity.

See, in North Carolina you don’t have to prove identity to vote.  You only have to appear and recite your address.  The polling volunteer can’t so much as ask you how long you’ve lived there or how many people live at the residence.

They just nod, smile and give ya a ballot.

A Test On Taxes

The debate rages on; almost always never resolved.  Do tax hikes benefit or harm economies?

On the one hand, the argument is that the State needs the income to do the People’s Business.  On the other hand, taxes are a burden and a head wind for economic growth.

Who wins out?

IOP: Idiots on Parade – Constitution Style

In my life I have learned a number of things.  Perhaps chief among them is the ability of people to demonstrate just how unlearned they are.

Amazing.

I have yet to learn that the most egregious of these examples come from our elected officials.

Check out Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee:

Abortion: What Is It?

The argument made for the case of abortion is that it’s a woman’s choice what she wants to do with her body.  And to the extent that we’re talking about her body, I couldn’t agree more.

Tattoo?  Go for it.

Piercing?  Have at it.

Cut your hair?  Dye your hair?  Cut your finger nails?  All yours.

But does there exist a moment in time when the “woman’s body” transforms into the body of the child?  That is, is there a time, after conception and before literal birth when the collection of cells goes from a biology experiment to a living human?

Compare and Contrast

I’m not sure what it means; I wanna stay away from the very thing I suspect it is.

I was reading though Renaissance Guy this morning when he brought up the very thing I’ve been rattling around:

…in the Fort Hood shooting there was a Muslim man who clearly considered himself part of the massive struggle that radical Muslims call jihad.  In that case, however, the media darlings tried and tried to avoid reporting it.

in the Tucson shooting there allegedly and apparently is a lone man, deeply disturbed and incoherent, with no clearly dilineated political persuasion and no definite motive.  It’s a bit too soon to tell for certain, but it appears that they [the media] were dead wrong again…

Let’s take a look.

Monopoly

Wanna know the only way to establish a monopoly?

Government regulations.

And I find it funny that the very same people who clamor when companies like Microsoft or Intel have a “strangle hold” on the market are the very same one who demand, DEMAND I tell you, that the government regulate a monopoly for something that they think needs regulating.
