The Left’s War On Women: They Can’t Stop

This is an amazing experience.   See, normally it’s the left drumming up “victim” scenarios and propping themselves up on the strength of the populist message with not an iota of policy behind it.  This has resulted in the right trying to stand for the tough but correct choices required to manage a country.  For ever it’s been the the democrats setting up these faux stories and then watching the republicans just whack away at vapor.  Again.  Again and again.

I’ve been amazed at how well it works, how enticing that “whacking” can be and then, finally, why the right allows itself to get stuck time and time again.

Now it know; it’s human nature.  See, it’s happening again.

Two Things I Didn’t Know Until Today

Casually reading this morning.  Came across two things:

  1. Apparently prostitution is legal in the area of Columbia that the Secret Service agents were at when they did what they did.
  2. Barack Obama is really traveling in an effort to raise cash:

As of March 6, Mr. Obama has participated in 191 fundraisers, already topping the re-election cycle totals of George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, who held 167 and 173 fundraisers, respectively,

Yikes!

Obama, to date, has ALREADY held more fundraisers than Dubya and Bubba did the WHOLE of their re-election efforts.  As I was cleaning the house today I had to smile at the irony of these two stories being related to each other in my mind.

There Is No “War On Women”

The Democrats, lead by President Obama, are going to craft, create, launch and feed the idea that there is a “War On Women” taking place in America.  However, there is no “War.”  Only a Democratic attempt to manipulate women.

Gas is $3.91 where I fill up.

And it’s not only the Democrats that are gearing up; it’s the media too.

President Obama: High Gas Prices

Gas prices are rising.  And the President’s numbers on how he’s handling the crisis are falling.  America doesn’t think that Obama knows what to do, much less is willing to do anything about it.

And now that the President is looking at an election just 8 months from now, his views and policies on the subject are fluid.  Whereas before he was FOR rising prices:

The drop in oil prices, I do think, makes the conversation about energy more difficult, not less necessary. More than ever, I think, a wholesale investment in transforming our economy — from retrofitting buildings so that they’re energy-efficient to changing our transportation patterns and thinking about how to rebuild our electricity grid — those are all things that we’re going to need now more than ever. But with people not paying $4 a gallon for gas, it means it drops on their priority list. And that makes the politics of it tougher than it might have been six months ago.

Predictably the President feels he’s better situated to affect the transition from fossil fuels to renewable fuels from the White House.  So, he sees a short term lie pivot as justifiable to the larger picture.  In fact, you can see the same attitude from the administration’s energy secretary.  Before prices were going up, he was FOR those prices going up.  Now that it could jeopardize his job, he’s way in favor of those prices falling.

But is he?

Presidential Approval: NY Times/CBS News Poll

He’s tryin’.

The President is coming into the election against a head wind.  Unemployment is high, his signature legislative win is unpopular, and getting more so, and he’s facing some stiff foreign relationship issues.

He’s up against it pretty tough.  The relevant conversations of the day aren’t going his way.  So, I don’t blame him for trying to change the national dialogue.  For trying to pivot from issues he can’t manage well to issue that have proven to be traditional democrat strong suits.

I get the contraception pivot.

But it ain’t working.

When They Say “The Do Nothing Congress” Remember They Are Talking About Democrats

The price of gas is goin’ nuts.  Jobs are only barely beginning to come back.  We need help in both arenas.  We need more and more stable sources of oil.  We need to reduce the amount of oil that we obtain from unstable sources and increase the amount of oil that we obtain from stable ones.

We need to rely on Canada, on Mexico.  We need to rely more on ourselves.

And when we can accomplish that with the added benefit of creating jobs, all the better.

But the DNC won’t allow it.

Another Ohio Primary: Dennis Kucinich

In a night dominated by the republican presidential nomination there is another primary race being decided.  That of democrat Dennis Kucinich.

Remember, just last cycle the man was running for President.  Today he’s lost his bid to be the democrat candidate for the House of Representatives.

Just another example of the positive  impact of the republican wins in 2010.  Mr. Kucinich faced a democrat challenger only because districts were remapped as a result of those 2010 elections.

North Carolina Governor’s Race

To be fair, North Carolina is a local Blue state.  We like our state house and senate to be democrats.  Our governors?  We like them to be democrats too.  Locally we bleed a fair shade of blue.

So to say that Bev Purdue won the office in 2008 isn’t a completely accurate picture.  It helped her, sure, but it’s hard to say that was the only factor.

What is true is that she is a wildly unpopular governor.

America: Obama Too Liberal

We have a long way to go, but right now, Barack Obama is fighting a trend:

After 3 years of President Obama America thinks the man is too Liberal.

Four years ago,” the poll said, “when Gallup first asked this question about Obama while he was competing for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination…37% said his views were too liberal, compared with today’s 51%.

That’s a move of 14% points.  In raw % moved, that’s 37%.

And the REAL interesting point is that more Americans [51%] feel Obama is too liberal than feel Santorum [38%] or ROmney [33] is too conservative.  Obama is more liberal than Santorum is conservative.

And Rick Santorum is C-R-A-Z-Y wrong in a whole bunch of areas.

And the number that must make us all scratch our heads?

Santorum scores the highest on “about right” between the three of them.
