Family: Why I Do WHat I DO

I do a lot of things.

I like to think I’m busy; my wife would like me too think I should be busier.

Sometimes I get run down and worn out.

This should be my antidote:

Pretty cool!

Why Is It Okay To Shoot An Old Man In His Jammies?

THIS is a great question.

After pushing the official on the fact that we obtained information that led to the death of Osama bin Laden through enhanced interrogation techniques INCLUDING waterboarding, the question was posed:

Why is shooting an unarmed man in the face legal and proper while enhanced interrogation including water boarding of a detainee under very strict controls and limits; why is that over the line?

The fun starts at 1:58

In short, the answer is that Obama has no answer.

The Left has no answer.

Rather, they come back and say, “Well, that’s not us; that’s not who we are.”

But it is.    We raise men in this manner.  It IS who we are.  And I’m glad it’s who we are.

Jeepers.

Marbles

Marbles – Huevos

Whatever language you choose, the meaning is the same:

I am no fan of Obama.  And I don’t think it took extraordinary strategery to know you have to take out Bin Laden.  But what DOES impress me is having the MARBLES to sit and watch the thing in real time:

I mean, real fucking time!

Look at Hillary Clinton for real time reaction to a man being shot in the head.

Dude.

Marbles.

More Military Metaphor

Taking my morning coffee reading the internet.  Saw an article that grabbed my interest:

America’s Healthiest & Unhealthiest States

I decided to take a look, I was interested in what the survey used as criteria in making their ranking.  While the exact order of the list would be interesting in a trivia sort of way, I knew that the northern states would rank near the top while the deep south struggled.  I  guessed that Mississippi would rank either 50th or 49th.

Low and behold, what to my wondering eyes did appear?

Unemployment Benefits Ending

I’m tough on unemployment benefits.

I admit it.

While I believe that folks should get what they “paid” for I am totally TOTALLY against extending benefits.  99 weeks is enough, to think that we need more than that is …. simply …. silly.

Why Democrats Fail

So, I’m watching the Rachel Maddow show just now.  And it occurred to me:

I need to help these Democrats out.

Watching them try to manuever and “politic” is like watching a train wreck, or this guy:

If Democrats Are THAT Stupid They Deserve What They [don’t] Get

Okay, so turns out that there is a concept in law that describes how parts of laws and/or contracts are interpreted.

The definition:

In law, severability (sometimes known as salvatorius, from Latin) refers to a provision in a contract which states that if parts of the contract are held to be illegal or otherwise unenforceable, the remainder of the contract should still apply. Sometimes, severability clauses will state that some provisions to the contract are so essential to the contract’s purpose that if they are illegal or unenforceable, the contract as a whole will be voided. However, in many legal jurisdictions, a severability clause will not be applied if it changes the fundamental nature of the contract, and that instead the contract will be void; thus, often this is not explicitly stated in the severability clause.

Severability clauses are also commonly found in legislation, where they state that if some provisions of the law, or certain applications of those provisions, are found to be unconstitutional, the remaining provisions, or the remaining applications of those provisions, will, nonetheless, continue in force as law.

Now, I didn’t know this.  But I:

  1. Have never written a contract.
  2. Have written a law
  3. Voted a a bill that would eventually become a law.

The fact that there are people in this world who have done either 1, 2 and/or 3 and STILL don’t know this rule about Severability is NOT my problem.

But it DOES speak volumes as to their qualifications to do any of the above!

I’m Turning into THAT Guy

I told my wife on Friday or was it Saturday okay, today, that I think I’m turning into a curmudgeony old man.  I forget stuff, get irritated at others when I do.

I DON’T like it when people drive on my grass [i’m still cool with kids, so I guess I’m not wholly there yet] and I like my driveway leaf free.

And I’m noticing that service ain’t what it used to be.

Those Damn Robber Barons!

The latest word on the streets is that “Big Business” had it’s best week ever.

American businesses earned profits at an annual rate of $1.659 trillion in the third quarter, according to a Commerce Department report released Tuesday. That is the highest figure recorded since the government began keeping track over 60 years ago, at least in nominal or noninflation-adjusted terms.

And the Left is pissed.  Very pissed.

Depressing

This via TJIC:

Apparently 50% of Americans could not get their hands on $2000 to deal with an emergency in 30 days. This includes money they’re saved, or could borrow through a credit card, from another financial institution, or from friends or family. And it isn’t just poor people. IIRC 30% of people making between $100k and $125k couldn’t come up with two grand in a month.

Huh?

30% of people making between 100k and 125k couldn’t come up with 2 grand in 30 days for an emergency?

I don’t care WHAT color you are, red elephant or blue donkey.  The fact that America is that frackin’ broke is why we are in trouble.
