Oh The Shame

I’m a mutt.  I have parents that German and Swedish.  I can’t make the case that my whole heritage is contained within the Nordic states, but it can be said that half of me is.

Further, I’m from Minnesota.  A state dominated by Swedes, Fins, Norwegians and the like.  It’s who we are, don’tcha know?

And I’m proud that part of who I am has been chosen to represent the state’s football team.  Who wouldn’t?

Underscoring At Its Best

The single best piece of reporting Ive seen in at least the last 2 hours:

No charges have been filed, but police believe alcohol is a contributing factor to the incident.

Pretty standard fare, yes?  Check out the story:

Thomas Johnson, of Gardner, and Seth Davis, of Winchendon, fell out of a bathroom window on the bus and onto the highway. Johnson was killed at the scene, while Davis remains in critical condition at UMASS Medical Center in Worcester.

The bus, run by Colonial Tours of Boston, was returning from the Red Hook Brewery in Portsmouth N.H. and was on its way to Gardner, Mass.

Dood.

Every Light In The House Will Be On

This Saturday is the day of the year when we are supposed to observe Earth Hour.

At 8:30 PM on Saturday 26th March 2011, lights will switch off around the globe for Earth Hour and people will commit to actions that go beyond the hour.

We are supposed to turn off all of our lights in order to demonstrate that we love our world; our earth.

Me?

Every light in the house will be on.

It’s Not the Teachers – It’s the Unions

I guess I’m guilty.  I often use the worst behavior of the occasional bore to define a group.  I search out debate and I invite debate.  As in everything in life, there is a bottom 10%.

I often, in conversation with my close conservative friends, refer to Liberals as Libtards.  It’s impolite and kinda reduces me to the level of folk that I’m teasing, but part of the humor is the irony of that.

Anyway.

You know when you debate a liberal and you just have to stand back in awe of his inability to discern reality from tribalism?

Check this out.

18 – 1

And so it appears that Wisconsin Democrats find themselves in Atari.  This should not be surprising.  Either to they themselves, state democrats as a group or the nation as a whole.

By fleeing the state and preventing a quorum, the Wisconsin 14 knew, they had to KNOW, that they were setting themselves up for failure.  True, they WERE able to block the vote.  But only because it contained fiscal portions.  It isn’t rocket surgery to know all you have to do it strip out that aspect of the bill and pass it without the required 20.

There will be yelling and much nashing of teeth.  But make no mistake about it, the Wisconsin 14 brought this on themselves.

Another Example Of Good Ideas Gone Wrong

I have come to understand that many of the friends and colleagues I disagree with are not disagreeing with me because they want bad things to happen.  On the contrary, I feel that those folks are just as interested in the welfare of our country and the people in it as I am.

Rather than mean spirited, they are well intentioned.  It’s just that each have our own version of the path to those intentions.

But, when well intentioned people craft laws in the dead of night and don’t read those laws, bad things happen.

Going Green Stinks

Serious.

It really stinks:

San Francisco’s big push for low-flow toilets has turned into a multimillion-dollar plumbing stink.

Skimping on toilet water has resulted in more sludge backing up inside the sewer pipes, said Tyrone Jue, spokesman for the city Public Utilities Commission. That has created a rotten-egg stench near AT&T Park and elsewhere, especially during the dry summer months.

Nice.

Too much water spent on sanitation?  Reduce and you get less sanitary sanitation.

The cost of making it more sanitary?

The city has already spent $100 million over the past five years to upgrade its sewer system and sewage plants…

Anyone have any idea how “green” an extra $100 million is?

Sarah Palin and Unions

Okay, okay, ya know the joke about Democrats wantin’ Sarah Palin to run for President…..?

That’s how I feel about Barack Hussein Obama siding with the Democrats in Wisconsin:

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that only 25% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of this tactic [fleeing the state to avoid a vote], while 67% disapprove.

Oh, gawd, oh Pah-leeze, Obama come out and side with the Democrats in Wisconsin!  PLEASE!

Only In a Leftist America

Only if you are a Democrat will you give someone the choice to take the life of a child but deny them the choice of belonging to a Union.

Behold the Gentle Unionista

Much gnashing of teeth has been made over the fact that the Right Wing engages in violent and aggressive rhetoric.  Hand in hand with that is the concept that the Left Wing is a bunch of gentle lambs seeking peace and love and overall gentleness.

Behold said gentleness:

Fire. Every. Single. One. Of. Them.
