He’s Still Out

In my mind, the greatest World Series Ever Played took place after the 1991 season.  The Minnesota Twins vs. The Atlanta Braves.

Kirby Pucket

Black Jack Morris

And if you are a Braves fan, the one play that sticks in your craw is this one:

Believe me, I know your pain:

Anyway, head to Target Field this summer and get your “He’s STILL Out” bobble head for yourself!

Coffee

Like everyone, I love L-O-V-E my morning coffee.  Perhaps like many fewer, I like my coffee to be of specific make; Goya Espresso coffee.

As I made my coffee this morning, I noticed that I was running a bit low and would need more soon.

So, I got on my magic typewriter, typed some letters that included “www” and entered an online “market” where distributors from all over creation competed to sell me my Goya.  More than that?  They’re shipping it to my door for free.

Gotta tell ya’, that free market sure does suck.

Good or Bad – More Blogging in 2011

I’m gonna try and increase my output here at Tarheel.  I find it fun, enjoyable and educational.  Since I’ve started this I’ve found many things about me I didn’t know.

Further, I am MUCH more informed about the things going on around me.

If you already read my blog, I hope you’ll encourage me with comments and likes, and good will along the way.

If This is Middle Class — I’ll Take It

So, I like to go the YMCA and work out sit in the hot tub, steam room and sauna on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

And because I simply MUST make sure that they don’t need the help of an old decrepit bartender, I stop in to check on ’em.  I like to have a couple beers and make my way home.

The study of the use of scare resources which have alternative uses.

This definition is as true for money as it is for matter of the heart.

Have You Ever Noticed

You know when we have one of those little holidays, or heck, even one of the big ones, and the garbage guys don’t come to your house?

And you have to leave the trash out the next day to be picked up?

And then, by next week, they are back on track and pick up your trash on the normal regular day.

That’s cool.  But you know what it tells me?

Very Cool: Progress Via Coolest Demonstration I’ve Seen in a While

The genesis of Tarheel Red can be traced to two things:

  1. My politicization as a result of the 2008 Presidential Election.
  2. Reading the books of Malcolm Gladwell.

The combination of data explained in a fascinating manner and the danger that is Obama has lead me read and read and read.  And then write some.

THIS, however, is just simply awesome.

I’m Turning into THAT Guy

I told my wife on Friday or was it Saturday okay, today, that I think I’m turning into a curmudgeony old man.  I forget stuff, get irritated at others when I do.

I DON’T like it when people drive on my grass [i’m still cool with kids, so I guess I’m not wholly there yet] and I like my driveway leaf free.

And I’m noticing that service ain’t what it used to be.
