How to Regulate the Free Market

Make it free’er.

Way.

Too many times we see a “problem” or a wrinkle in how markets work or are working and we think:

This is a problem

And we immediately think that the only solution is to implement process that will “prevent this from ever happening again.

And that’s just wrong thinking.

Have You Ever Noticed

You know when we have one of those little holidays, or heck, even one of the big ones, and the garbage guys don’t come to your house?

And you have to leave the trash out the next day to be picked up?

And then, by next week, they are back on track and pick up your trash on the normal regular day.

That’s cool.  But you know what it tells me?

We Used to Run Out of Film

I remember going on vacation and bringing my camera and film.  Now, to be fair, this was some time ago, so, I made less than I do today.

However, the point remains.

The film I brought with was pretty much all the film I was going to be able to shoot.  I could buy more film, but of course, if I had the money to buy more film, I would’ve done that ahead of time.

Net/net, the number of pictures I could take was limited.

Say nothing of the cost of getting those rolls developed.

Do You Ever Wonder….

Why chickens aren’t endangered or extinct?

I mean, we EAT ’em for gawd’s sake!

The reason why chickens aren’t extinct and buffalo or nearly extinct is that people own chickens.

Weird.

What Happens When Markets Are More Free?

More good things happen.  And they happen all over the world.

See, the mistake that the Left makes regarding job creation is that it’s a zero sum game.

I.E. Liberals think that if you add a job in China you are subtracting a job in America.

In fact, the opposite is true.

When Left Alone

The market.  She’s great.

When left alone, AND when “regulated” to the point that contracts are enforced, private property rights are recognized, will grow.

Always.

Never not.

So when folks were looking at the health care system and saw a bloody mess, they should have stepped back and said:

“Let it be”.

That Word, I Do Not Think It Means What You Think It Means

Pure awesomeness.

THIS is what I talk about when I call people liars and truth spinners.

Wall Street Reporter:

There IS an attack on the profit motivation. We heard shareholders bad mouthed, bond holders bad mouthed, and now we’re hearing that insurance companies shouldn’t make money.  Listen, insurance companies make a lot less money than software companies.  Oil companies make a lot less money than software companies.  Why are we demonizing parts of capitalism?    That’s what’s hurting us.

Democrat Consultant:

I do NOT demonize business, I’m a strong supporter of business.  But, I DO believe the patients should come before profits at the insurance companies.

I wonder if the Leftists know what she is doing or if it just comes naturally?

New Government Policy

Quick, no googlly-ogglly-Google.

What nation said this:

X-Nation announced on Monday it would lay off “at least” half a million state workers over the next six months and simultaneously allow more jobs to be created in the private sector as the socialist economy struggles to get back on its feet.

“Our state cannot and should not continue maintaining companies, productive entities and services with inflated payrolls and losses that damage our economy and result counterproductive, create bad habits and distort workers’ conduct,”

…the government “agreed to broaden the exercise of self employment and its use as another alternative for the employment of those excess workers.”

The Market [Literally] Shall Restore You

Flu shots too hard to get?

Doctor’s office run out?

Making an appointment is too hard to manage?

Actually taking time off to go to the doctor’s office inconvienient?

Check this out:

Not only can I buy groceries at this store, I can buy beer and wine.  I can buy local farm fresh produce from local growers.  I can fill a prescription.  Not only can I fill a prescription, but I can enroll in a program that will get me many medications at $9.99 for a THREE MONTH supply.  Not only that, but I can now walk up, without an appointment, bill my insurance or pay directly and get a flu shot.

At the grocery store.

Not one single vote or law was required for this advancement to occur.  Only that reasonable people, willing to trade time and property be allowed to meet in a market and trade.

Markets in Everything

Airline tickets.  The price of ’em.  Actually, the COST of flying.

Maddening.  Right?

Kinda, but only because they’re changing how they charge.
