Wherein The Economist Brings The Dynamite

I read the Economist because it annoys me.

Don’t get me wrong.  I love LOVE the cover art and the graphs are way cool; geeky cool.

But, they are Liberal Leftists from Europe and it just bugs me enough to net out annoyed.

Which only means I love it when they bring the whup-ass.

Behold The Unionista

These are teachers.

These are people who teach our children to love learning.  To respect others.  To play nice.

And this is what we get:  From Althouse

Unions!  Fire every single one of these union workers that called in sick to protest!

Caution Government at Work

Wanna know why the cost of Medicare is going up?

Raleigh, N.C. — If a wheelchair costs $160, why would Medicare pay eight times as much? That’s the question one local woman asked after her elderly father needed a wheelchair to get around.

As a WRAL investigation found, it’s all in the way Congress set up the spending plan.

A wheelchair seemed like a simple purchase for Jeanne Gunter’s 95-year old-father when he moved to assisted living, but she soon learned that Medicare’s payment system is not so simple.

Medicare rents to own equipment, such as wheelchairs. One wheelchair, for example, costs $104 a month for up to 13 months, which is about $1,300 total. Providers must maintain the liability to repair the chair during the 13 months of rental.

“We could’ve bought a wheelchair,” Gunter said. “I looked at a local pharmacy and looked at a wholesale club, and you could easily get one for $150 to $200 comparable to what we have.”

By all means, let’s have these people run my health insurance program.

Yeah, About That Whole Stuck Accelerator Thing?

So, I wonder how many people who heaped blame on Toyota will admit they were wrong?

The Department of Transportation, in its long-awaited report on Toyota’s infamous accelerators, has concluded that cases of cars suddenly speeding off on their own were the result of either sticky pedals, floor mats jammed against the pedals or, quite simply, driver error. In fact, the report cites driver error for most of the mishaps.

Nice.  Driver error.

And for this General Motors The American Government caused untold damages against Toyota.

Go government!

Aahh Yes, A Lesson on the Tender Mercies of Tolerance From the Left

No sooner had I finished the polishing touches on the post I just wrote pointing out the violence of the Left and the hypocrisy of the same do I sit down with a cold beer and work on clearing out the DVR.

And I get to the Daily Show.  And 12 saved episodes. And yeah, it’s time to clean out some Daily show.

So I crack the beer and settle in for some good times with Jon Stewart.

Liberty.

THAT is what we stand for.

Or, at least, what we should stand for.

Which makes me cringe and cry out in frustration when the Right is wrong.

The Problem With Knee Jerk Reactions: Other Than The Jerk

We knew it wasn’t gonna take long.  As shock and horror melted away into grief, which in turn melted into rejoicing, we have time to reflect on the impacts of this tragedy.

Because they are elected to “do the people’s business”, our elected officials are going to feel obligated to do just that.

To be sure, folks are gonna line up and voice their complaint, their grievance, their solution.  And they’re gonna say, like everyone before them, “Restrict more rights!”

Except they won’t say it like that.

IOP: Idiots on Parade – Constitution Style

In my life I have learned a number of things.  Perhaps chief among them is the ability of people to demonstrate just how unlearned they are.

Amazing.

I have yet to learn that the most egregious of these examples come from our elected officials.

Check out Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee:
