When They Say “The Do Nothing Congress” Remember They Are Talking About Democrats

The price of gas is goin’ nuts.  Jobs are only barely beginning to come back.  We need help in both arenas.  We need more and more stable sources of oil.  We need to reduce the amount of oil that we obtain from unstable sources and increase the amount of oil that we obtain from stable ones.

We need to rely on Canada, on Mexico.  We need to rely more on ourselves.

And when we can accomplish that with the added benefit of creating jobs, all the better.

But the DNC won’t allow it.

Rather than let an amendment pas through the rigors of the senate, the Democrats blocked it before it could be made open to a vote.  And leading the charge was President Obama.

President Obama’s pipeline lobbying paid off…for now.

A controversial Republican amendment to a transportation bill, to mandate construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline, has failed in the Senate.

The numbers may be a little too close for comfort for the White House: the amendment fell just short of the 60 votes needed for the amendment to be included in the final bill at 56-42.

President Obama had personally lobbied Democrats, telephoning members of Congress directly to encourage them to reject the measure.

It’s politics in a political year.  Heck, it’s been politics since the man was elected.   But make no mistake, when people complain that the congress can’t get anything done, it’s not the GOP standing in the way, it’s the democrats.

  1. Let’s hope the 2012 elections are like the 2010, because if we have President Romney, we’re going to need Conservatives to gently nudge him…

Yuppers. I thought for a second that #OWS would morph into the liberal version of the Tea Party. Happily my worries have been for naught.

because if we have President Romney, we’re going to need Conservatives to gently nudge him…

So here’s the scary part. When Republicans get the 3 “axis of power”, they tend to act like democrats. They spend spend spend. And government grows grows grows. The only difference is that the spend and the growth is for things that THEY favor.

Don’t tell the boys over there, but I might be happiest with a Democrat President and a Republican House and Senate. It gives republicans political cover to act like conservatives.

      Ssshhhh….
