Democrat Women Silent On Liberal Slurs

I posted earlier about the fact that liberals don’t expect themselves, themselves as an identified “group” to live up a certain level of values.  The individual and specific father of three 4 who teaches school and considers himself a devote Christian?  Does he have, and live by, values?  Sure.

Same for the soccer mom who volunteers at the hospital, organizes fund raisers for charities and contributes to others and considers herself a lifelong liberal?  Her?  Is she an example of a person living a “values-based” life?  Sure.

But it ends there.  As a group, there is no demand that values be important.

An example of someone living that value-based life would someone who speaks out against Rush to also speak out against Maher, even when, heck, ESPECIALLY when, the politics suggest you don’t.

But they don’t.

They walk away.

Check out these two Democrat congresswomen and their statements condemning Bill Maher.  Via Say Anything.

If you’re outraged over Rush’s comments then you must be outraged over Maher’s.  And if you aren’t, then you have no values.  Or, at the very least, aren’t living up to ’em.

  1. And one wonders why this nation is in trouble? That was a perfect example, especially since they couldn’t answer a simple question.

Pino, you should’ve vetted them. What were you thinking?

    • That was a perfect example, especially since they couldn’t answer a simple question.

I get the reason not to answer. It’s hard to speak out against a popular celebrity. Also, with the Obama campaign having recently taken a cool $1 million it makes it even harder. But they did it to themselves by making such a tantrum over Rush.

you should’ve vetted them. What were you thinking?

Heh. Without examples people think it’s just rhetoric.

  2. Linked to your graphs at RNL. Very cool. Admittedly, though, numbers confound me.

  3. Aha! That explains it! My math teachers hated me because I was always raising my hand. I tried really hard to understand, but I didn’t seem to connect the dots. But, hey! At least I pulled C’s…..
S’pose you’ll have to tutor me. Then again, you’d probably wind up in therapy along with my other math teachers….

  4. I meant to comment here, but it went to the older thread. So my comment is there.

Short version: Rush insulted a student citizen, Maher called a famous politician names. There is a world of difference there. People were mad because he went after a student, said that because she needed contraception she was a slut and prostitute, said her family should be ashamed, and said she should post video tapes of her sex. That to a private citizen. Again, calling Palin names is nothing compared to that. It’s not even about gender so much as about savaging an individual citizen for wanting to speak up on an issue.

  5. No offense, Scott, but the “student” is a 30-year-old pro for the Dems. But enough of her! I happen to be a lobster slut, and I see that you are in just the right area to satisfy my cravings….

    • No offense, Scott, but the “student” is a 30-year-old pro for the Dems.

Not to mention that, but she is in line to nab a starting salary of $160,000 upon graduation of the specific law school she is attending. There is little question that she will become the 1% in no time flat.

She is or will be soon an attorney. She seems to have time to conduct a media tour while attending said law school.

I fail to cede to the argument that she is a wilted flower who’s been struck by the bright lights of the media.

    • She’s still not a Palin — and the social media led the reaction. The Democrats milked Rush’s words for major gain — that’s the way the game is played. That’s the way Rush plays it too when Democrats say stupid things. I think the Democrats/liberals now a days are motivated, well organized and adept at social media.

      • She’s still not a Palin — and the social media led the reaction.

I still see it as not mattering.

She’s still not a Palin — and the social media led the reaction.

On this account, you are absolutely right. I have no argument.

  6. Well, she sure had Nancy swooning….

  7. I think there is a difference. Rush Limbaugh asked what it makes Sandra Fluke that she goes before Congress and says that she must get paid to have sex. The answer being that she is slut and a prostitute. I don’t really have a problem with Rush calling her a slut or a prostitute in all honesty. She put herself out into the public and should be ready to deal with the consequences of doing so, name calling being one of those consequences. The problem however, is that if she is a slut and a prostitute for wanting birth control to be covered by her health insurance, what does that make every woman in America that already uses health insurance to pay for birth control? His comments can easily be extended to include those women. According to him they are all paid to have sex. They are all sluts and prostitutes. I think it is this implication that is causing a lot of the outrage, not his choice of words. I wouldn’t categorize Bill Maher’s comments as misogynist as he never intended to put Sarah Palin down for being a woman, rather he disagrees with her political and social views and uses insults in the form of gender specific profane words. Inversely if a woman called me a dick that doesn’t automatically make her a misandrist. It may just mean that I’m a dick. Rush’s comments, however, carry a very negative message that women who wish to use health insurance to obtain birth control don’t do so for health reasons but rather because they are sluts and want to seek financial gain. As this could apply to a large number of women, I would say his comments are misogynist. Just my opinion though.

    • I don’t really have a problem with Rush calling her a slut or a prostitute in all honesty.

      So, my initial thoughts were:

      1. Jeepers, THAT’s a bit harsh dude; poor form.
      2. $3,000 in rubbers is a LOT of sex. Maybe that’s the slut part.
      3. Prostitute doesn’t apply. She’s not getting paid FOR sex.
      4. Maybe she doesn’t use condoms and she just uses some other medicine. 3k divided by 36 months is $83.33. What kinda medicine is she using?

His comments can easily be extended to include those women. According to him they are all paid to have sex. They are all sluts and prostitutes.

This implies that the liberal mind is actually thinking this through; they aren’t. To YOUR credit you are. Seems Kells disagrees with you, but I see the argument.

I wouldn’t categorize Bill Maher’s comments as misogynist as he never intended to put Sarah Palin down for being a woman, rather he disagrees with her political and social views and uses insults in the form of gender specific profane words.

Now, do you think that Maher otherwise respects people who hold those same views and is able to have a reasonable conversation with these people about those differing views? Or do you think, as I do, that he think all people, especially women, who hold what he thinks are anti-women views, are cunts and twats?

Personally, I swear all day everyday. I’m sure I refer to people using inappropriate language. And I’m sure I’m on the receiving end of it as well. But I don’t cry foul when someone calls me an asshole. I wear my big boy drawers to work and home again everyday.

So, if someone calls Pelosi a bitch, so be it. She might be a bitch for all I know. And if Boehner is an ass, by gawd call him an ass. Or a dick. But if you get all High And Mighty about it, like the Democrats and the wilting liberals faint of hearts do, then be a fuckin’ man and man up* to a consistent point of view. That is, if you are going to trot out your soap box to condemn Rush, you better jump on it when it makes you uncomfortable.

      * I say this knowing that my examples are specifically women refusing to answer. My reply is that if you want to be treated the same as a man, then the “man-laws” apply to you as well. And that includes such things as “manning up”.

  8. JD, how the hello does slut reference all women? The comment was specifically made for one. It’s like sayin that Maher called every woman in the U.S. a cunt. He didn’t. He directed it at one individual woman. I honestly don’t know why these boys are taken so seriously……

  9. And now I believe I’m gonna have to wash somebosy’s mouth out with soap. Naughty!

    • And now I believe I’m gonna have to wash somebosy’s mouth out with soap. Naughty!

I firmly believe that I am the funniest person I’ve ever met.

      In real life.

It doesn’t translate to this forum and I struggle to find my voice and persona. I shift from serious data miner to irreverent “rage against the gods”. I think it hurts the tone of the joint, but sometimes….ya gotta risk the soap.
