Income Disparity

Open Question:

Would you be more or less likely to look for a new job if your current job no longer offered vacations and holidays?

  1. Depends. If the current job allowed unpaid holidays and vacations, then it would depend upon the relative cost of any income differential. I would probably give a slight premium to the “no holidays” side (if unpaid holidays were about as easy to get as vacation time elsewhere) since I could control how much time I took off and when. If, however, the “no vacation” place made it difficult to get even unpaid time off, then I’d look for something new, even at a relative loss of income.

      Right.

There are other things that qualify as compensation for work other than just money.

  2. More likely. Paid holidays are almost expected in the U.S.
