In fact, if you go to the State level, the shift was so massive that it may literally have been unprecedented. The number of State seats that shifted from the Democrats to the Republicans was devastating to the Democrats. And it was virtually complete.
And behind the whole thing was the Tea Party.
Not the crazy loons the Left Wing trotted out in front of the news broadcasts to be sure. But the disciplined message that we are focused on fiscal issues that impact the economy.
Liberty by Law.
Now, if those same Tea Party organizers, voters and candidates continue down the natural path of recognizing Liberty, extending Liberty and running on that message, the coalition will only get stronger.
This means moving away from the Religious Right and embracing all people of all cultures, creeds and orientation.
And all indications show the shift is already underway:
(Washington, D.C.) – Exit polling reveals that gay and lesbian voters played a critical role in the Republican Party’s historic gains in the U.S. House on Tuesday night. According to CNN, 31% of self-identified gay voters supported Republican candidates for the U.S. House. This number is a dramatic increase from the 19% GOP House candidates won among gay voters in 2008. “Exit polling makes it clear gay voters played an important role in bringing conservative leadership to Congress,” said Jimmy LaSalvia, Executive Director of GOProud, the only national organization representing gay conservatives and their allies. “It also proves something we have been saying for months now – that the Tea Party’s message of limiting government is something that appeals to many gay Americans.”
I have been saying for years now that by denying the very existence of a specific group of people will only serve to alienate the otherwise faithful within that population. In other words, if conservatives outnumber liberals in the general population, there is no reason to believe that conservatives wouldn’t outnumber liberals in the gay community as well. And only by denying the very self identifying characteristic would those voters be forced to abandon their self interests.
And this too is being seen more and more:
“Gay people are just like other average Americans. We see the challenges our country faces and many of us are outraged at the failed big government approach of Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi,” said LaSalvia. “GOProud will continue to provide a home and a voice to those gay conservatives.”
Now, to be sure, just as there are Liberal freakin’ loon in the general public, there are the freakin’ Liberal Loons that seem to think they speak for the Gay community as a whole:
Let me be clear: gay people who vote for Republicans need to have their heads examined.
And even better? Even better than the fact he is willing to insult conservative gay Americans is the fact that more important than representing that very Gay American is the fact that he can’t leave the idea that anyone who doesn’t support him and his people are simply racists:
And, as I said after the presidential election in 2008, the difference in the gay vote for Kerry in 2004 and the gay vote for Obama in 2008 is a rough measure of just how many rabid gay racists are out and out there.
Watch for these far Left-Loons, and avoid them like the plague.
