A Glimmer of Hope?

Years ago Delta Airlines acquired Northwest Airlines.  And with Northwest came the Unions.

Now, as the companies are finalizing the merger, the heavily Unionized Northwest employees combined with the non-Unionized Delta employees are voting on representation.

And the Unions are losing.

Big time.

This Made Me Laugh

Can you imagine the Leftist environmental wack-a-doos hanging a golden frame embossed picture of John D. Rockefeller on the wall behind their Greenpeace CEO?

Right.

Rockefeller is their arch enemy.  He’s the God Father of the American Oil Company.  And there could be nothing more evil.

However, as The Coyote points out in his recent article in Forbes:

Between 1870 and 1900, John D. Rockefeller’s Standard Oil company came to dominate the oil refining business, at one point controlling 90% of US capacity.  Long before the proliferation of the automobile created a market for gasoline, the main use for petroleum in the 19th century was to make kerosene, which was an illuminant for lamps.   Due in large part to Standard Oil, over these decades the price of kerosene dropped from 30 cents to 6 cents a gallon, while production increased astronomically and the quality of the product steadily improved.

Through Rockefeller’s work, kerosene became both cheaper and safer to use than whale oil, and quickly began to replace it in the marketplace.  By 1890 the American whaling fleet had already dropped from a peak of 735 ships to just 200, and was still falling, in large part due to low cost kerosene produced by Rockefeller’s Standard Oil.

In the last half of the 19th century, whales were facing extinction.  They were hunted in large part because their oil was the best, most affordable illuminant available to growing western nations.

How ironic is it that only because of, not inspite of, big oil can these Leftists heartily shout:

Save the whales!

Asses.

More Election Good News

And the hits just keep coming in!

There’s been a lot of election talk this week, but there was also a historic union vote within Delta Airlines. On Wednesday, 20,000 Delta flight attendants came within 328 votes of unionizing.

Awesome!

People understand what is good for them and what’s bad for them.

And they gravitate accordingly.

Well done Delta!

The Tea Party and The Gay Vote

Tuesday was powerful.  The shift in American politics was one not seen in 60 or more years.

In fact, if you go to the State level, the shift was so massive that it may literally have been unprecedented.  The number of State seats that shifted from the Democrats to the Republicans was devastating to the Democrats.  And it was virtually complete.

And behind the whole thing was the Tea Party.

Not the crazy loons the Left Wing trotted out in front of the news broadcasts to be sure.  But the disciplined message that we are focused on fiscal issues that impact the economy.

Liberty by Law.

Stewart and Colbert: Insulting Without Being Funny

I am a huge fan of the Daily Show.  I think it’s well written and funny.  I say this knowing that it’s often the conservatives who are on the receiving end of the jokes.

But serious; funny is funny is funny.

And I’m nothing if not the funniest guy I know 😉

But the rally these two guys held before the election was just, well, funny.

That Word, I Do Not Think It Means What You Think It Means

Pure awesomeness.

THIS is what I talk about when I call people liars and truth spinners.

Wall Street Reporter:

There IS an attack on the profit motivation. We heard shareholders bad mouthed, bond holders bad mouthed, and now we’re hearing that insurance companies shouldn’t make money.  Listen, insurance companies make a lot less money than software companies.  Oil companies make a lot less money than software companies.  Why are we demonizing parts of capitalism?    That’s what’s hurting us.

Democrat Consultant:

I do NOT demonize business, I’m a strong supporter of business.  But, I DO believe the patients should come before profits at the insurance companies.

I wonder if the Leftists know what she is doing or if it just comes naturally?
