Are The Poor Getting Poorer While The Rich Get Richer?

Poor

I suspect the charge has been leveled for as long as anyone can remember:

The rich are getting richer at the expense of the poor who are only getting poorer.

But is it true?

As with all things, it depends on how you measure it.

  1. I’d be shocked if the poor were getting poorer. Rather, the relative wealth differential is growing – the rich are gaining much faster than the poor.

I’ve gotta get off my arse and build my presentation. I’m not so sure….

  2. By the way I know the guy who made that video via alt.music rush — years ago.

  3. The first question is, are the poor better off under a political leadership like Obama and the Democrats which seeks to lessen the difference in incomes between rich and poor ? With all of the welfare benefits piled on the poor it may be a wash .

The second question is, are the middle class better off under Obama and the Democrats ? Easy answer, no . More people have slipped out of the middle class . The huge growth in food stamp recipients under President Obama speaks for itself .

Third question is, are the rich better off under President Obama . Yes and no . The middle class rich, those running the small businesses that Democrats always say they are for, these business people are still in survival mode under Obama and are not hiring . So,,, no .

Lastly, the hated richy rich, the gazillionaires, how are they doing ? With Wall St. hitting new highs lately , strangely, pretty damn good .

  4. It’s an old video, too – would be interesting to see that updated for 2013.

That said, it doesn’t really matter to me, though. There are more opportunities for people to become business owners or millionaires today than there were even ten years ago if people would stop thinking they can, or should, do only one sort of job or career. It’s called the Internet – find something to distribute and/or sell and earn some extra income if you need to! 🙂

      Indeed.

I would like to build a more up to date version.
