Egypt: It Worked

President Mubarak has stepped down.  He resigned his position and gave control of the nation to the military.

This toppling of power came after several weeks of peaceful protests.  Protests that withstood opposing forces organizing counter protests armed with sticks, rocks and riding horses and camels.

Today is a tribute to freedom loving people all across Egypt.  It’s my belief that above all else, they simply want one thing, that one thing that we all want.

Liberty by law!

  1. I have been riveted by the news, watching al jazeera live stream, following this. This has ramifications for the entire Arab world. As when the wall came down in 1989, the people rising together, non-violently, can sometimes overwhelm a repressive bureaucratic regime. The hard part is yet to come — building a stable and free democracy — but you have to admire the protesters who were willing to keep at it, risking death, injury or even torture, for the ideal of liberty.

Preach it my man, preach it!
