I’ve Said It Before … Obama Is A Liar

Incredibly I watched the whole debate last night.  I’m a well documented junkie now, but last night’s sleeper was just about as much as I could take.

90 minutes of boredom.  But there were some really good moments:

The first such moment is when Obama accused Romney of wanting to liquidate the auto industry.  By taking the position that the companies should have been brought through bankruptcy.  Obama said that Romney didn’t support Federal assistance.  Clearly he did.

There are more.  My next favorite is when Obama stood there, actually sat there, and said point blank that he did not support leaving troops in Iraq after the end of major conflict there.  Of COURSE Obama support that.  The condition is called Status of Forces.  And the President put Joe Biden in charge of securing it.  The fact that Joltin’ Joe couldn’t seal te deal doesn’t change the fact that Obama supported it.

On the subject of education Romney worked hard to demonstrate his state’s achievements while he was in office.  Romney mentioned the normal facts surrounding test scores, but then he moved into the “John and Abigail Adams Scholarships.”  Obama countered that fact by saying that had occurred before Romney came into office.

It’s hard to blame Obama.  He was defeated as soundly as any candidate in history during their first debate.  And last night it was Obama playing the role of challenger to Romney’s role champ.  Romney was simply playing defense and Obama was trying to … well, lie.

  1. Given Romney’s tirade of shifting positions, it’s hilarious to have Obama being accused of lying. He didn’t lie. Romney opposed the auto bailout and wanted only federal guarantees – but that wasn’t enough. In Mass Romney is trying to take credit for education programs he had no part of. Obama didn’t say he didn’t want a SOFA agreement, only that he didn’t want to keep troops in Iraq. Face it, Obama has been steady, kept the same positions, and last night completely destroyed Romney. Maybe Romney will still win, but calling Obama a liar sounds like whining. I thought that about the left when they called Romney a serial liar after debate one (which is why I didn’t call him that, I just noted that he shifted to the center abandoning old positions). Face it, Obama was sharp last night, Romney was on a the defensive and had a poor night. Both sides exaggerate or emphasize one thing over another, but it’s a bit over the top to call Obama a liar (unless you stipulate that Romney is at least just as much of one).

I thought the first debate was boring, by the way. Romney supporters didn’t. Funny how this time it’s reversed, the debate was like an inverse of the first one!

    • it’s hilarious to have Obama being accused of lying. He didn’t lie.

      Scott,

I’m going to give you a shot at reconsidering that stance before I reply.

When you knowingly say something that isn’t true, it’s called a lie.

Obama accused Romney of opposing any Federal help for the auto makers. He lied. The article Romney wrote clearly states, not just implies but actually states in black and white, that Romney suggested Federal assistance was required.

In Mass Romney is trying to take credit for education programs he had no part of.

First, let’s be clear, Obama takes credit for oil production that doesn’t take place on Federal lands. So if you are going to be even handed, then be just that.

But the specific charge is the John and Abigail Adams Scholarships. That WAS on Romney’s watch and Obama lied when he said it wasn’t.

Obama didn’t say he didn’t want a SOFA agreement, only that he didn’t want to keep troops in Iraq.

SOFA = Forces in Iraq. What else does SOFA mean to you? The Obama Administration supported the SOFA policy yet was unable to get it done; itself a foreign relations failure. Joe Biden wagered his Vice Presidency on it. I’ll take the payment of the debt please.

Face it, Obama has been steady, kept the same positions

      Well, and he’s a liar.

How do you describe his stance on Libya? For two weeks he referred to it as a spontaneous protest to a video on YouTube only to reverse his stance and call it terrorism.

but calling Obama a liar sounds like whining.

I’m so goddam’ed tired of the left hammering Romeny for his “lies” while completely giving a pass to Obama and his lies. The man looked Romney dead in the eyes and told him he did not support troops left in Iraq. A blatant lie.

Face it, Obama was sharp last night, Romney was on a the defensive

Obama was no sharper than normal. Romney played the part of the man holding the lead and just played prevent defense. Obama scored easy short yardage but didn’t score deep; and that was the strategy.

but it’s a bit over the top to call Obama a liar (unless you stipulate that Romney is at least just as much of one).

      And THAT is the point.

  2. Obama crushed him. It was the inverse of the first debate. We’ll see if it has an impact on the polls.

  3. Pino ,

I am finding this everywhere on the Liberal blogs, Romney lied . They parse Romney’s language to find small inconsistencies they can call lies . You don’t have to parse anything President Obama says to catch him in constant lies . Like his blatant lie that he did not apologize for America in Europe and the Middle East . He bashed the United States on his Apology Tour in 2009 . Yet because he did not use the words sorry or apology President Obama’s defenders say he never apologized .

When you go in front of others and list your sins and then promise to change your behavior that is an apology . That is exactly what our President did . The funny thing is that it did Obama absolutely no good . Foreign citizens do not respect him . The parallels with Jimmy Carter are there . Bad economy and the Middle East on fire .

They all “lie.” Everyone of ’em.

While I don’t put 100% faith in joints like Fact Check I do look to see what I think. Romney does his share of truth shifting. The point is; so does Obama.

And if you are going to be taken seriously when it comes to crying “liar” you have to call out both. And they aren’t.
