Media Bias: MSNBC

Both sides cry foul when it comes to the media.  Both sides have data that show the other sides gets preferential treatment when it comes to coverage of “their guy” and they can come up with chapter and verse that shows the positive/negative for the other side is skewed.

It’s fun.

But this, THIS, right here, is crazy.

Here MSNBC doesn’t just take a video and start it at a point that clouds the context or ends it at a point that clouds the context.  No.  They actually parse the video, showing a clip from an early section, cutting in a piece from another section and finally end it all with yet another cutting later on.

I hear they even added a laughing track.

Check it out:

That isn’t selective reporting.  That isn’t commentary that favors one version of ideology over another.

THAT is a blatant distortion of the entire conversation.

THAT is media bias.

  1. MSNBC and FOX are mirror images. I watch neither – those stations are like sports radio stations especially for fans of one team!

Years ago I watched Hannity and Colmes. Then I watched Hannity and O’Reilley. I quit Hannity, he’s crazy but have kept up with O’Reilly. On MSNBC I watch Maddow.

      Jeepers.

  2. I dug the video. S’pose it’s always good to see both sides….it you’re seeing both sides. I see that I’ve been preoccupying myself too much with xanga and have slipped from my roots a bit, although I do have an awfully fun time debating over there….

Speaking of the Dark, er, other side, there is a journalist who has commented at RNL, and I think I shall have to post one of his articles. Yes, I’m very naughty, and I love to ruffle the ganders’ feathers over there. 😉
    Shhh……

      They like the ruffle though.

  3. MSNBC? Same group that couldn’t figure out how the hell they accidentally edited Zimmerman’s phone call? Humph.

      Seriously.

I get that politics is a contact sport, but Holy Moly!

  4. How does the editing distort what he said? He starts talking about Wawa, then he goes off on some tangents, then comes back to talk about Wawa. They cut out all the stuff that wasn’t about Wawa, to get to the part where he says touchscreens are amazing. Are you saying that, if we hear the parts about Arnold Schwarzenegger and the address change and optometrists, it makes the “amazing” comment different?

The meme is that Romney is an out of touch rich guy. Evidence of this would be found in the fact that he finds “wonder” in the self-scan and self-pay options found in many places these days.

“Look at the spoiled rich guy who hasn’t been out of any of his mansions to buy a sandwich….”

It’s a variant of the “How much is a gallon of milk or a gallon of gas?”

It’s a way of demonstrating he’s out of touch with the regular guy.

Romney’s speech had no aspect to it. He was making a very nuanced comparison between government and the private sectors. He points out that for the government to operate a address change it requires 33 pages of forms; three times. And in the private sector you can marvel at the wonder in technology. This is the same style that I use when I carry on about the wonder of grocery stores that offer up every imagined food from all over the globe. I don’t do this because I’m literally bewildered that my grocery store has this feature and I’m discovering it for the first time, I do it because I’m trying to point out that mostly, government is unwieldy in what it does.

I assume you mean you heard this from someone, not that you hear one in the video. I don’t hear any such thing, does anyone else?

      Correctamundo.

I heard no such laughing track.
