Lessons From Yale

From TaxProf Blog via Instapundit:

The untold story is that redistribution of income is, by and large, not designed to help the poor but to preserve social stability on behalf of the rich (or a portion of them). It’s like Guido Calabresi used to tell his students on the first day of classes at Yale. Are you in favor of high taxes? Yes. Are you in favor of high spending? Yes. Do you want to see your seats at Yale redistributed to people with lower test scores? Silence. Aha, he would say, you just want to redistribute other people’s advantages, not your own.

Freakin’ Liberal Leftists!

  1. pino ,

I am still fascinated by Obama’s second favorite billionaire Warren Buffet . He complains about his own tax breaks, yet took advantage of every tax break he could his whole life . Whatever your philosophy , you should live it . Buffet is hypocritical in that he gives away money and then uses the tax deductions . The guy should just give away his money and not use his deductions . Here is an article on the subject .

    Yeah…Buffet. Piece of work, him.

  3. Wait, are you attacking TaxProfBlog or Calabresi? Or both? Who are the liberal leftists you seem to be blaming? As usual, a post where you simply put out an enigmatic excerpt of something and then yell “SOSHULIST” at the end.

And just for clarity, that excerpt came from a comment, not TaxProf.

    • Wait, are you attacking TaxProfBlog or Calabresi?

      Neither. I’m attacking Yale students.

I’ll go hunt the You Tube video if you want but there was a hilarious project where a group of students went around trying to get signatures to “redistribute” grades in college. The theory being that if people are willing to redistribute the results of labor, money, in real life, then those same people should be willing to redistribute those same results in college, grades.

As you can imagine, kids with good grades didn’t wanna redistribute their grades to kids with poor grades. However, the poor students were very willing to partake in such redistribution.

What do you call it when you have a group of people who actively support removing private property from some group of people and give it to another group of people? If not sochulizm, what do you call it?

So you oppose all taxes, period?

No, I don’t. I do acknowledge a proper role of government. And that form of government must be funded by the population.

My point, of course, is that what we have today is the removal of private property for the explicit purpose of simply giving to other people.

        THAT I object too.
