The Power of Technology

I was taking Tyler out to eat last night.  I had picked him up from school and we was a jammin’ to the radio. During one of the commercials I heard about a TV show I wanted to record.

I was bummed that I didn’t know about it earlier so that I would have been able to set my DVR and record it.  As luck would have it, Ty wanted to go home and get a couple of toy cars to play with at dinner.  Normally I don’t allow that kinda shenanigans but ’cause I wanted to record my show, i protested and let him talk me into it.  “Just this once” I said.  “I love you daddy!” he said.  Heh heh heh, sometimes it’s like shootin fish in a barrel.

Anyway, so we get home, run in grab the cars, check the email o potty and jump in the car.  As we get about half way to the restaurant I realized I had forgotten to record the blasted show!  Damn it!

Now we’re at the restaurant and I am just steamed.  How could I have forgotten?!?  Then I remembered something.  I have an iPhone.  And I have AT&T’s U-verse.  I pull up the app store, search for U-Verse and lo and behold, there is an app for that.  I download the app, login in to the system and from the comfort of the restaurant with a beer in my hand, record my show!

THAT is cool

  1. I have a similar app for DirecTV. More than once I have gone to a ball game, forgot to record it for later viewing and this app has bailed me out. My wife still doesn’t understand why I go to a football game then come home and watch a recording of the same game, but that’s another story.

You lost me at “my wife doesn’t ….”

  2. I am so impressed, I am speechless. And I think you know what a big deal THAT is.
