He SHOULD Get Life in Prison

He’s a coward.  And he should count himself lucky that he only got what he got.  After all, he killed a child.

Hopkins man accused of having a friend punch his pregnant girlfriend to kill the fetus has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole.

Twenty-five-year-old Dameon Gatson was charged with first- and second-degree murder and first-degree assault. A jury found him guilty on all charges.

You see, you can not be convicted of murder if there isn’t a life that was ended.  Clearly, a life was ended.  And this man took it.

And don’t give me this “can’t live outside the womb” thing…

he hit Shyloe Linde twice in the stomach. She was six months pregnant.

Life is life.  When you acknowledge that, the rest simply follows.

  1. What’s wrong with death?

    New tangent;

    Before I do, I have to “fix” my state; I find myself on both sides of the abortion issue.

    Back to this dude;

    Since this gut got life in his attempt to abort a fetus it would appear that what is on trial and judged are his methodologies.

    If he were a trained doctor, he’d still be in practice.

    Meanwhile, Obama is in office. This is a man who sponsored legislation to allow for life-birth abortion. Why isn’t he in jail next to Twenty-five-year-old Dameon Gatson?

    • Way to twist the facts, Ben.

    • What’s wrong with death?

      Two things:

      1. It targets the poor. Those with means are able to finesse out of the death penalty.
      2. The State is unable to get it “correct enough.” Way WAY too many innocent men are being sent to their deaths.

      My whole take on abortion is that life begins, if not at inception–then very very shortly thereafter. The defenders of “women’s choice” will recognize this line of questioning and immediately begin to attack that position. It’s almost as if they have decided that they are in the “pro-choice” camp first ad have to construct a defense second.

      Anyway, if we agree that life begins very early on, then the debate comes down to any debate based on the liberty of two individuals. If there is immediate threat of life/health to the mother or child, I would be in favor of extending “choice” to the mother. Further, if the mother is a victim of a crime, rape or incest, I would extend “choice” to the mother.

      Where I would with-hold that extension of choice is where it becomes a convenience to the mother; a lifestyle choice if you will.

    Should the lives of Al Qaeda mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four alleged accomplices, also be spared?

    It would appear he isn’t poor, will get some of the best defense attorneys and by any account, are not anywhere close to being innocent.

      That’s part of my struggle with where he should be tried. To be honest, I’m still on the fence. But really, his is an extreme case and shouldn’t define the Death Penalty debate.

      • Let’s open the boundaries of this topic.

        Pacific War. Since the days of Pearl Harbor, you’ve fought long and hard across the Pacific and have pushed the Japanese back to their mainland. Now you’re faced with the long and protracted war of invasion and literally fighting a population trained to resist.

        Now you’re told you have an awesome weapon called the Atomic Bomb. It strikes you that you have a clear and open opportunity to end the war in mere days if you use them.

        Do you?

  3. The author hit the nail on the head, or is that the fetus? Its a life and a baby when the mother wants it to be. If it isn’t convenient or wanted then naturally, it is a non-viable parasite that can be justly removed.

    Hypocrisy is so wonderful. We can have it both ways if we’ll all only agree not to over-examine things. Come on, didn’t 12 years of public school and 4 years of liberal college teach you that? Critical thinking is only a concept. You don’t actually apply it unless it supports a liberal ideology.
