It was back in the 50’s that the family was last defined as “traditional”. The husband went to work. The wife stayed at home. The children behaved.
We haven’t seen that kinda life for 50 years now. The 60’s changed everything and we haven’t looked back since. And ya know what? It’s most certainly a good thing. My wife is better, faster and stronger than I am. Can you imagine the unfulfilled potential that would have been wasted if her only concern was how to better starch my shirts? She drives innovation for a massive company supporting other massive companies. In short, she lets corporations do thing cheaper and more efficiently than they otherwise would have; and she does it better than anyone I know.
So yeah, life is better now.
So why are we trying to go back?
And better yet: How is this mentality still just A-OK in today’s world?
Raleigh, N.C. — Hundreds of alumni gathered on the campus of Peace College in Raleigh Sunday to voice concerns over the administration’s decision to change the college’s name and admit male students next year.
Class of 2000 alumnus Jamie Averette Mitchell called changes to the 154-year-old women’s college, which will be called William Peace University starting in the fall, a “travesty.”
Huh? Serious?
In today’s day and age the fact that we still have all woman colleges is stunning. With the sweeping change of fairness and equality I would’ve thought that such institutions were a thing from our ugly past. But I guess not:
Protesters said that the single-gender education they received at Peace helped shape their lives and they are concerned about how admitting men will change the college’s academic mission.
To be sure. However, the world we live in has no room for single-gender institutions.
Welcome to the new world order.
