Some time I ago I ran a series on the Senate Races. There are 4 categories. They are:
- Retiring Democrats
- Retiring Republicans
- Democratic Term
- Republican Term
So, the only ones we have left are the seats currently held by a Republican where the incumbent is going to run. Let’s take a look:
AL | Shelby | Republican | Barnes | Republican | 27 |
AK | Murkowski | Republican
AZ | McCain | Republican | |||
GA | Isakson | Republican | |||
ID | Crapo | Republican | |||
IA | Grassley | Republican
NC | Burr | Republican | Open | Republican | 15 |
OK | Coburn | Republican | |||
LA | Vitter | Republican | Melancon | Republican | 14 |
SC | DeMint | Republican | |||
SD | Thune | Republican | |||
UT | Bennet | Republican |
The only races being tracked are the ones above that have been filled in. The rest are so in the bag for the Republicans that Real Clear Politics isn’t even covering the race. And still the Republicans are managing to cover every race.
What does this mean?
It means that Republicans hold serve and keep all their seats.
Right now, this looks like a Senate with 53 Democrats and 47 Republicans.
