Our Plan Is So Good—We're Gonna Tax The Hell Oughta Ya

So, at a time when the country is strugglin’ pretty mightly [notice I avoided saying that we are struggling like we haven’t struggled since the Great Depression?  Yeah, cause sayin’ that is kinda stoopid.  We aren’t strugglin’ like we was strugglin’ as recent as 1981] the administration is worrying about a lot of other things besides that strugglin’.

We’re busy insulting Israel.  Insulting the Dali Lama.  Chattin’ it  up with France.  Signing weapons deals with Russia.  And…..oh yeah, and working on health care legislation that no one wanted.  After telling us that we were gonna pivot, like a laser, on jobs.

Which makes this headline just so much awesomeness:

White House economic adviser Paul Volcker said Tuesday the United States should consider imposing a “value-added tax” similar to those charged in Europe to help get the deficit under control.

Ahh yes.  So much love and laser like pivoting from the White House.  I can hardly stand it.

So, we need jobs.  Obama said he knows we need jobs.  He said he was gonna focus on jobs.  And he didn’t.  Now, to his credit, when Obama said he was gonna focus on jobs I imagine that he had like, ummm, zero clue, as to how he was gonna get those jobs, so maybe him not doing anything actually helped.  Cause serious….him trying to help create jobs is prolly a bad thing for people who love jobs.  Just sayin’.

Anyway, so, instead of trying to create jobs, Obama goes and passes this health care thing.  Which, contrary to all reports, is not going to save money, it’s gonna cost money.  A LOT of money.  And they know it.  Wanna know how they know it?

  1. They sell us a bill that taxes us for 10 years and provides 6 years of benefits!  Pure awesomeness.
  2. They roll in nationalizing the student loan industry to help the numbers.  More pure awesomeness.
  3. They now say they care about the deficit.

So what do we get?  The VAT; Value Added Tax.

Don’t be fooled.  This is not a national sales tax on retail.  This is an insidious tax on all stages of manufacturing.  And it’s like kudzu.  Bad bad news.

Oh, and they won’t reduce taxes anywhere else.  Just ADD them via the VAT.

Nice.
