State Of Occupy Wall Street – Raleigh Style

Occupy RaleighThought I’d slum it tonight and wander through the Occu-camp.

Not surprising.  They Gone.

Policy or philosophy differences aside, the effectiveness of the Tea Party compared to the efforts of a bunch of vagrant criminals.  One group is shaping national legislation, the other is “taking too long to respond.”

  1. I’ve been (sort of) watching the whole Ted Cruz thing and listening to the Republican talking points stating that Cruz is a “hero” for bringing the negative aspects of Obamacare into the mainstream media news cycles and giving it center stage in the national discourse.

I recall saying “So what?”, however, to an Occuweenie supporter giving similar praise to Occupy for supposedly achieving the same thing. I don’t consider dialogue an achievement when it results in zero change, therefore I have to say “so what” to Cruz’s faux-filibuster (although 21hrs is a feat in itself!)

Will this be the start of reform in the Republican Party? If so I’ll give credit where it’s due but for now I don’t see this results-wise as being much beyond the circus stunts that Occupy was trying to pull.

That said, I agree with you, Pino when you say that “one group is shaping national legislation”. Cruz stands as proof that the Tea Party has been a far more organized and effective group than Occupy could ever hope to be. Better to see him up there anyways (see Occupy? You’re supposed to be getting someone ELECTED) than some pot junkie twinkling his fingers and shouting “mic check!” for 21hrs, don’t you think? 😉

Exactly. Forget the policy, the Tea Party has been FAR more effective.
