Brad And Britt: How The Left Works

I’ve been listening to the Brad and Britt show for a whole bunch of years,  Partly because they are local, partly because they are entertaining and partly because I need some Leftist influence.  Just to keep me honest.  And almost always, they deliver.  I enjoy the show.

I get that they are a profit center.  They are hired to deliver ratings in a market so that they can sell advertising to an customers.  I get it.  And so I mostly let most of the stuff they say go in and then go out.  They’re playing to an audience and are more circus performers than they are knowers of important things.

But jeepers, sometimes they say things that are just not so right.  So wrong in fact, that they are lying.  And I call ’em out.  And when I post I tweet.  And they notice.

Sunday night I pinged Brad and Britt.  I posited that the Occupy Wall Street crowd is racist.  I came to this conclusion in the same way the media decided that the Tea Party was racist.  Some fun tweets occurred and we called it a night.

Then I listened to this:

Brad and Britt interview

The interview was offensive.  And after I dropped my kids off at school, more of the same.  A caller was interrupted by Britt parodying Rush and shouting him down.  Funny stuff, I guess, if you’re on that side of the football field.

And I called him out:

The response of the tolerant Leftists?  They “blocked” me on Twitter.

Now, don’t get me wrong.  I’m a Twitter rookie.  I’ve had an account for years and only posted a little.  That I get blocked or not blocked isn’t the point.  The point is, that’s how the Left rolls.

  1. pino – given that I gave you a ‘that’s fair’ when you told me why you called OWS racist:

i did listen to the audio – it began cordially and was (for quite a while) until one of the hosts asked ‘are we back in archie bunker terirtory’ which the WTimes guy took to be a personal attack. I didn’t hear it that way, but okay. What I did hear though was the WTimes guy dealing entirely in stereotypes. Entirely. Defacating in the street, iphones, living in their parents’ basements. . .

When that Twitter thing happened? That wasn’t ‘how the left rolls’, unless Twitter is leftist. That was how someone on Twitter rolls. I’ll bet it’s happened in both directions.

    • i did listen to the audio – it began cordially and was (for quite a while)

I agree. It was very cordial. The hosts mostly, almost always, are.

the WTimes guy took to be a personal attack. I didn’t hear it that way, but okay.

Yeah, me either. The political dialogue business should create thicker skin.

the WTimes guy dealing entirely in stereotypes. Entirely. Defacating in the street, iphones, living in their parents’ basements. .

Well, the point is that the whole OWS movement is stereotypes and generalizations. There isn’t a single concise statement made by these guys. THAT is the point.

That wasn’t ‘how the left rolls’,

Nah, the Twitter thing was only the method. The radio host busted out his Little Rush routine to drown the WTimes guy out. Funny for a second to make a point, but after much more than a second it was obnoxious. And totally unprofessional. Whatever, the WTimes guy is in the business so maybe he should’a expected it, but then again, maybe the Host should extended some professional courtesy.

What you didn’t hear was the next morning…..

A caller, a customer, called into the show and actually agreed with the host on some items but then tried to make some points that the right has focused on. WHAM! Little Rush again. And again, the Host used the parody to drown out and shout over the caller.

I called out the Host on Twitter for what I thought was inappropriate reaction and instead of addressing and taking the criticism, he “shut me up” by that blocker method.

THAT is what the Left does. The Left demands tolerance and acceptance of ideas and speech and thought up until the very moment that speech and those ideas don’t agree with theirs. Then they attempt to suppress that speech. That it happened on Twitter is trivia. It could have happened, and DID in fact, on his radio show. It happens in face to face communication. It can happen on blogs.

I find the least tolerant of people to be the ones that demand tolerance for their own ideas.

      • I agree that the tone excalated and they went all ‘talk radio’ on him. I criticize Rush and the wannabees for the same thing of course, but may be with both/all of them that behavior is about ‘entertainment

  2. I’ve passed by the protesters in DC, NY and Philly and they’ve all looked pretty diverse groups to me both in terms of ethnicity and age…

I don’t for a second think that OWS folks are racists. Neither do I think the Tea Party is racist.

Sometimes it takes being accused of a thing before understanding how that really feels.
