They did it again.
Inn an effort to “do something” about a “problem” people have turned to legislators to “fix” the “problem”.
And, in this case, the problem is…….
Cribs.
Drop-side cribs to be specific.
Done. Kahput. Banned.
And ya wanna know why?
Because 30 children died in these cribs.

Now, to be sure, the death of 30 infants is tragic. But 30 in 10 years in a nation as large as ours is a vanishingly small number.
Make ’em safer? Sure, always.
Ban ’em? No way.
For comparison, consider this:
a study published in the journal Anesthesia and Analgesia counted very few child deaths from cardiac arrest. The study, which collected anonymous reports from 80 medical institutions in the United States, counted a total of 193 pediatric cardiac arrests due to anesthesia between 1998 and 2004.
That’s 400% more child deaths due to a visit to the dentist than to an infant’s crib.
Regulation has a place. Regulation for regulation’s case is just too much and often times silly.
