Hurricane Season: 2010 – July Review

June has come and gone.  July too.  Where are we with our hurricane prediction so far?

Let’s review.

If you remember, back in April we had the experts claim that we were due for 15 named storms with 4 of ’em becoming major hurricanes.

We are two months into the 6 month hurricane season.  If storms follow a normal distribution, we should have seen 5 named storms with just over 1 severe hurricane.

We have:

2 named storms:

  1. Alex
  2. Bonnie

1 Hurricane:

  1. Alex

1 Tropical Storm

  1. Bonnie

Neither severe.

By the end of August, to stay on pace, we would need to see 5 or 6 named storms with 2 of them developing into severe hurricanes.
