Something is Changing in The Obama Administration

First we see Holder offer clues that they may change their stance on Miranda and now we see them offering insight into the Arizona immigration law.

Earlier this week, Holder made some interesting comments regarding where he stands on Miranda:

“The [Miranda] system we have in place has proven to be effective,” Holder told host Jake Tapper. “I think we also want to look and determine whether we have the necessary flexibility — whether we have a system that deals with situations that agents now confront. … We’re now dealing with international terrorism. … I think we have to give serious consideration to at least modifying that public-safety exception [to the Miranda protections]. And that’s one of the things that I think we’re going to be reaching out to Congress, to come up with a proposal that is both constitutional, but that is also relevant to our times and the threats that we now face.”

While I’m not really spun up on the whole Miranda debate, I do find it interesting that after the New York city failed bombing attempt, the administration is tackin to the center/right on this issue.  I’m not sure if it’s because they really feel it’s a better strategy or if they think they need to public behind them as we move into full on election season.

What I DO find interesting is Holder’s take on Arizona:

WASHINGTON – Attorney General Eric Holder said Sunday he does not think Arizona’s law cracking down on illegal immigrants is racially motivated but voiced concern that its enforcement could lead to racial profiling.

Which is exactly where 99.99% of Americans are.  Of course Arizona is trying to protect itself from having to support aliens that aren’t here legally.  And those people who claim Arizona is racially profiling Hispanics are THEMSELVES guilty of racial profiling.

Look, Seattle proves that we aren’t a perfect nation.  There is ignorance and hate everywhere.  That doesn’t change, however, the need to look after our own self interests.

And it seems that Holder gets this.  Arizona ain’t race hatin’.  They are simply tired of waiting for the Federal Government to take actions on what is already a law in the books.  They made a Federal Law a State Law.

And THAT should be okay.
