People Say I'm Crazy

Look, for a long time I was pretty much politically agnostic.  I thought I knew where I stood on some issues; abortion, capital punishment guns.  You know, the biggies.  I really didn’t care about taxation, Liberty and economic freedom.  And then it all changed.

See, Obama came on the stage.  I can STILL remember talking with a buddy at the office that if my guy didn’t make it out of the Republican primary, I would like to see this guy Barack Obama make it through.  And then I started listening.  And once I started listening I started caring.  In a big way.  I had to k now more.

So I started reading.  And reading.  And reading.

The whole time I became more and more a believe in maximum individual Liberty, hands off economic policies and a fan of proper incentives when it comes to State welfare.  And all this while I come to realize that the things that Obama talks about are exactly NONE of those things.

Now, I’m not saying that what I’m showin’ ya next is because of Obama, it ain’t.  This is a State law not a Federal one.  But it exemplifies in real terms where we are and where our politicians are.  More and mmore of our freedoms are being legislated away.  More and more restrictions are being placed upon us.  The invasion of our homes by the state is every day closer and closer.

It was with wonder that an article this morning talking about a law that would ban salt:

Some New York City chefs and restaurant owners are taking aim at a bill introduced in the New York Legislature that, if passed, would ban the use of salt in restaurant cooking. “No owner or operator of a restaurant in this state shall use salt in any form in the preparation of any food for consumption by customers of such restaurant, including food prepared to be consumed on the premises of such restaurant or off of such premises,”

And if the restaurant decided that he did wanna use salt in the preparation of food in his private restaurant?

The legislation … would fine restaurants $1,000 for each violation.

And people say I’m crazy.
